Recovery Teaching
Addiction · Freedom · The Root
— Coach Gene Aikens
Everything that presents as addiction is first a spiritual crisis. Something in the person — deep, wordless, relentless — knows that it came from a Source of infinite love, infinite peace, infinite belonging. And it cannot find the way back. The substance, the behavior, the compulsion — these become substitutes. They promise what only the Source can deliver, and they always fall short, which is why the door keeps being opened again.
Coach Gene's approach to addiction is not clinical. It is not the twelve steps, though he honors that work. It is the Tree Model applied to the deepest root of all: the belief that you are separate from the love that made you. When that root changes — through theta-state meditation, through I AM declaration work, through the Mirror — the addiction loses its power. Not because it was fought. Because it was replaced by something real.

The Mirror Is the Technology of Recovery
Every teaching on this page leads to the same place — a daily practice of stillness, declaration, and reflection in The Mirror. This is where the root changes. This is where the addiction loses its power — not by force, but by replacement. By something real finally filling the place where the substance used to live.

I AM Declarations for Recovery
- I AM a soul that came from a Source of infinite love — and that love is available to me right now, without any substance, without any behavior, without any effort.
- I AM no longer defined by what I reached for in my darkest hours. I am defined by what I am reaching for now.
- I AM whole in the place where I once felt empty. The emptiness was a lie. The wholeness is the truth.
- I AM free from the belief that I need anything outside of myself to feel what I am looking for. The peace I seek is already inside me.
- I AM the circuit breaker in my family line. What was passed down through my bloodline ends with me. My children inherit freedom.
- I AM becoming, every day, more of the original self that existed before the wound that opened the door. I am returning to who I was before the world told me who I was.
- I AM worthy of the healing that is happening right now — not because I earned it, but because it is the nature of the Source from which I came.
